Things to Know

Tips for this place
  • Access the Arc de Triomphe via the underground passage from the north side of the roundabout — do not try to cross the traffic circle on foot.
  • Walk the full length of the Champs-Élysées from Concorde toward the Arc for the most impressive approach.

The rooftop of the Arc de Triomphe is my favourite viewpoint in all of Paris — better than the Eiffel Tower because you can actually see the Eiffel Tower from here. The 284 steps are worth every one.
